Debra Moffat

 

Debra Moffat graduated from Radford University with a Master's in Special education. Prior to having children, she was a Wake County Schools special education teacher. Debra is the mother of three boys who together spent over 180 days at The University of Chapel Hill Children's Hospital. Since 2015, she has been an active member of the UNC Children's Hospital Newborn Critical Care Center Family Advisory Board and has served as chair of the board for four years. Debra founded Amazing Avens Quest for Amoeba Awareness to raise awareness about the amoeba Naegleria Fowleri while advancing medical treatments, so no other family must suffer the same devastating loss that she has endured.

 

Craig Moffat

 

Craig Moffat graduated from Alfred State College with degrees in Construction Engineering and Architectural Engineering. Craig is a managing partner of Moffat Properties and Moffat Pipe in Wake Forest, NC. Craig is responsible for structuring development projects, client relations, and all acquisitions and dispositions. Craig co-founded Amazing Avens Quest for Amoeba Awareness with his wife to honor their son's memory and help prevent future tragedies caused by this amoeba.

Keith Moffat

 

Keith Moffat graduated from Alfred State College with a degree in  Construction Engineering. Keith is a managing partner of Moffat Properties and Moffat Pipe in Wake Forest, NC. Keith is responsible for pre-construction analysis, due diligence, construction budgets, and management of consultants and contractors. As an active fundraiser for JDRF for more than ten years, Keith brings a wealth of experience and connections to our board and will work tirelessly to prevent future tragedies caused by PAM. 

 

Andrea Moffat

 

Andrea graduated with honors from the University of Buffalo with a degree in Psychology and is the Chief Financial Officer for Moffat Pipe, Inc., a leader in the construction industry. Having spent six years as a member of JDRF's NC Board of Directors, she is a champion for Type 1 Diabetes, raising over a million dollars for research during her tenure. Andrea brings extensive fundraising experience to our board, along with her passion for preventing other families from experiencing the devastation caused by PAM. 

 

Jessica Bright

 

Jessica graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a BA degree in Psychology. Since graduation, Jessica has served as Co-Owner and President of a property management company that oversees a portfolio of 60 residential and commercial properties. In addition, she serves as the Chief Financial Officer of Wildor Restaurant Group, a fast-food franchise with multiple locations throughout NC. Jessica brings extensive experience in budgeting, financial reporting, and project management to the foundation. Jessica is passionate about working with the foundation to find better detection and treatment methods for Naegleria Fowleri and PAM to prevent future tragedies like this from happening in the future.

 

Megan Payne

 

Megan dove into clinical and research science to fulfill her passion for helping others by aiding in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Meghan's compassionate nature helped facilitate the growth of the foundation's social media page, "Amazing Aven's Quest for Amoeba Awareness" (formerly "Prayers for Aven"). With over 5,500 members since its organization in August 2021, Meghan has demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to sharing Aven's story and carrying out the foundation's mission through global awareness. Together, we will serve as a catalyst in saving lives in our endless fight to advance detection and treatment of Primary Amebic Meningoencephalitis.

 

Amy Crenshaw

 

Amy previously served on the board of the Peter T. Pastore, Jr. Charitable Foundation of Cranston, RI., whose mission included supporting organizations that inspire the arts, culture, and education for children and the elderly. Amy brings 15 years of professional marketing, design, fundraising, and event planning experience to the board. Much of her career was in the Community Banking Industry, where she executed successful marketing campaigns, special event planning, and fundraising efforts for her company's not-for-profit arms. Amy graduated from Meredith College with a Bachelor of Art in Fine Art with a concentration in Graphic Design. Amy's passion for helping others, along with her professional experience, makes her a great asset to our board and the foundation's mission to build awareness around PAM.
